Chlorella is rich in vegetable proteins (50% of its weight) that are easily assimilated when the Chlorella’s membrane is open. It contains the 8 amino acids that are essential for adults.


Comprising 10% of Chlorella, fatty acids are mainly present in the form of polyunsaturated fatty acids – with Omega-3 in particular representing 35% of the lipids in Chlorella.


The fibers in Chlorella’s membrane represent 15% of its weight. They are not digested, but rather must be broken down in order to allow the microalgae’s components to be assimilated.


Chlorella’s benefits include effects stemming from the numerous vitamins that it contains. Vitamins present in Chlorella’s natural state include B1, B2, B6, B9, B12, C, K, and E. In particular, vitamin B12 – the “energy vitamin” – is not present in any common vegetable, making Chlorella an especially beneficial addition to the diets of vegetarians and vegans.


Large amounts of minerals are present in Chlorella (10% of its composition).


The chlorophyll in Chlorella is what gives it its green color – in fact, Chlorella is the plant with the richest quantities of this pigment, at 2-4% of its weight.
