Zinc is an essential trace element found in every cell and involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions: skin renewal, the keratin in hair and nails, immunity, fertility, antioxidant protection. The body does not store it, so it must be supplied every day through food (oysters, red meat, pumpkin seeds, pulses). Vegetarians, women and athletes are most at risk of insufficient intake.

Spirulina Zinc is a natural, plant-based zinc: the mineral is added to the cultivation ponds and incorporated by the spirulina into its matrix as it grows, just as it would be in nature. It is therefore carried by the plant, in a physiological form, along with the wealth of micronutrients typical of spirulina. An alternative to synthetic zinc tablets (bisglycinate, picolinate, gluconate). For immunity, discover Spirulina Immuno+ with vitamins C and D3

Zinc and hair

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal hair. It is involved in keratin synthesis and follicle renewal. A 3-month course of zinc is the classic approach for dull or fragile hair, especially in autumn. For a “before and after” result, allow a full hair cycle, i.e. 3 months.

Zinc and skin

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. It plays a part in wound healing and sebum regulation, making it the go-to trace element for blemish-prone and sensitive skin.

Zinc and nails

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal nails. Brittle or ridged nails are often the first sign of insufficient intake.

Cell protection

Zinc contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Combine it with natural astaxanthin for a complete antioxidant routine.

Immunity, fertility, cognition

Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to normal fertility and reproduction, to normal cognitive function and to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood. For targeted immune support, our Spirulina Immuno+ combines zinc with vitamin C from acerola and vitamin D3.

Women: the benefits of zinc for women

Skin, hair, nails: zinc is the beauty trace element par excellence. It also contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to normal fertility and reproduction. Needs increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Men: the benefits of zinc for men

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood and to normal fertility and reproduction. It is also being studied in athletes, who lose large amounts of zinc through sweat.

Vegetarians and vegans

Zinc from plants is less well absorbed (phytates): a concentrated, well-tolerated source such as Spirulina Zinc helps cover your needs.

Teenagers and blemish-prone skin

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. Adjusted dosage from adolescence, on your pharmacist's advice.

My new skincare routine

I've been taking Spirulina Zinc for a few months. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, and that's exactly the everyday support I was looking for: from the inside, with nothing superfluous. I'm won over.

Very good product

I used to take standard zinc; I switched to Spirulina Zinc for its plant-based form. I feel in good shape, and I like the idea of a mineral carried by the algae rather than isolated. It's encouraging, and I'm continuing through the coming winter!

A pleasant surprise

I've been trying Spirulina Zinc for about a month. My skin seems calmer, and I love how simple it is: two tablets before a meal and that's it.

My everyday staple

My son suggested this natural alternative and now I wouldn't be without it. Zinc, protein, B12: it's all carried by the algae, and I feel good with this simple routine, day after day.

Spirulina Zinc, a very good product

At 55, I've tried lots of things to look after my skin: collagen, glycine, masks, massages. Spirulina Zinc is the one I've kept: zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and normal hair, and the formula is faultless. Go for it, ladies.

Dosage: how should I take zinc?

Take 2 Spirulina Zinc tablets a day, ideally before a meal (morning, lunchtime or evening), with a glass of water. A jar lasts 30 days.

When should I take zinc: morning or evening?

Zinc is better absorbed away from meals rich in wholegrains and dairy products (phytates, calcium). First thing in the morning or at bedtime are the two ideal times; if you have a sensitive stomach, take it at the start of a meal.

How long does a course of zinc last?

3 months, the length of one hair cycle and two skin renewal cycles. Can be repeated in autumn and spring.

Zinc and vitamin C, zinc and magnesium

Zinc combines very well with vitamin C (see our Spirulina Immuno+) and magnesium. Avoid taking it at the same time as a high-dose iron or calcium supplement (they compete for absorption): leave 2 hours between them.

Precautions

The dosage can be adapted for children. Do not exceed 25 mg of zinc a day from all sources combined.

Origin and purity

Our Spirulina Zinc is naturally enriched with zinc: the mineral is added to the cultivation ponds throughout the algae's growth, and the algae incorporates it into its plant matrix. Grown in its original environment, at an altitude of 2,500 metres in the heart of the Andes in Ecuador, it benefits from a pure climate and ideal sunshine.

It is dried at low temperature, which preserves its active compounds and gives it a neutral taste. Every batch is analysed (zinc content, heavy metals, microbiology); packaged in Switzerland.

Frequently asked questions about zinc and Spirulina Zinc

What are the benefits of zinc?

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails, to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, to the normal function of the immune system, to normal fertility and reproduction and to normal cognitive function.

Is zinc effective for hair?

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal hair. A 3-month course covers a complete hair cycle; that is how long it takes to see a change.

Is zinc good for the skin?

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin; it is traditionally used for blemish-prone skin. For additional antioxidant support, combine it with astaxanthin.

Spirulina Zinc or zinc bisglycinate: which should I choose?

Zinc bisglycinate is a well-absorbed synthetic salt, often dosed at 15 mg or more. Spirulina Zinc provides natural zinc incorporated into the algae (5.28 mg, 53% NRV), at a physiological dose, together with spirulina's protein and micronutrients and with no excipients. For long-term daily supplementation, the natural form is preferable; to correct a diagnosed deficiency, follow your doctor's prescription.

Natural or synthetic zinc: what is the difference?

Natural zinc is incorporated into a plant matrix (here, spirulina) during cultivation; synthetic zinc is an isolated mineral salt (gluconate, citrate, picolinate, bisglycinate). The natural form also provides the algae's cofactors.

When should I take zinc, morning or evening?

Before a meal, morning or evening, away from dairy products and wholegrain cereals.

Does zinc have side effects? Who should avoid it?

At a physiological dose (5.28 mg), Spirulina Zinc is very well tolerated. The side effects of zinc (nausea, metallic taste, reduced copper levels) occur with high doses of zinc salts (> 25 mg/day) taken on an empty stomach. If you take anticoagulants or have a health condition, seek medical advice.

What are the symptoms of zinc deficiency?

Dull or falling hair, brittle nails or nails with white spots, skin that heals poorly, fatigue, recurrent infections, loss of taste. A blood test (plasma zinc) confirms a deficiency.

Can you take zinc during pregnancy?

Zinc requirements increase during pregnancy. Spirulina Zinc contains no alcohol or additives; ask your midwife for advice.

Spirulina Zinc or Spirulina Immuno+?

Spirulina Zinc for skin, hair and nails (zinc only, at a physiological dose). Spirulina Immuno+ for immune defences (zinc + vitamin C from acerola + vitamin D3).
