Discover or rediscover Montreux and the Vaud Riviera – already famous for their jazz and comedy festivals – this time along the trail-running paths.
On 26 and 27 July, the 3rd Montreux Trail Festival will take place on Montreux’s market square, opposite the Freddie Mercury statue, in a sporty, festive atmosphere.

MONTREUX TRAIL FESTIVAL: A MIX OF SPORT AND RELAXATION
This tour of the Vaud Alps was dreamt up by the “Dénivelé Positif” association, founded by Diego Pazos – Algorigin ambassador and winner of UTMB Oman 2018 – and Cédric Agassis. Both originally from Lausanne, they want to showcase their canton and their favourite playground above Montreux.
Today, more than 290 people, including at least 250 volunteers, come together over these 2 days to make the Montreux Trail Festival a first-class event.

A FRIENDLY PROGRAMME
The festivities kick off on Friday at 4 pm with a trail village and concerts. In the spirit of Queen, the Montreux Trail Festival is all about festive and musical get-togethers – and the various races will even be punctuated by numerous concerts along the routes.
140 KM OF RACING IN TOTAL, WITH NEARLY 10,000 M OF ELEVATION GAIN
Six races are on the programme on Saturday, from 1 km for children aged 1 and over up to 55 km and 4200 m of elevation gain for the most experienced runners.
The Montreux Trail Festival offers routes for all levels, to run solo or with the family. The carefully designed courses take in the region’s must-sees: the Gorges du Chauderon, the Verraux range and the Col de Jaman – all with sweeping views over Lake Geneva and, for those with the most stamina, a panorama of Mont Blanc!
- MXKids: 1 to 2 km, start Saturday 27 July at 10.15 am
- Queen’s night: 6 km, 300 m D+, start Saturday 27 July at 9.30 pm
- Freddie’s night: 15 km, 950 m D+, start Saturday 27 July at 8.30 pm
- MXFamily (2 ITRA points): 29 km + 2 km, 2100 m D+, start Saturday 27 July at 10.30 am
- MXSky (2 ITRA points): 30 km, 2100 m D+, start Saturday 27 July at 11.00 am
- MXAlps (3 ITRA points): 55 km, 4200 m D+, start Saturday 27 July at 8.00 am
