What is lithotamne?
Lithotamne is a calcareous algae measuring approximately 2 cm, blue-purple in color when alive.
It has ramifications that become apparent in adulthood. They are composed of approximately 95% mineral matter.
Dietary lithotamne corresponds to the skeleton, mainly limestone, of this algae, very rich in trace elements (19 in total).
The natural origin of lithotamne
It is found in permanently submerged areas all around the planet: notably in the Atlantic, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Mediterranean.
The benefits of lithotamne
Thanks to its particular structure, organic lithotamne is an optimal source of calcium and vitamin D2. Its benefits are numerous, calcium contributes:
- normal functioning of digestive enzymes
- to normal energy metabolism.
- maintaining normal bones
Lithotamne also contains vitamin D which contributes to the normal absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus.
Yes but for whom?
It can be consumed by everyone from childhood. It is recommended for:
- anyone looking for digestive health
- children and adolescents during growth periods (Calcium is necessary for normal growth and bone development in children)
Composition
The benefits of lithotamne are closely linked to its trace element composition. Indeed, it contains – among other things – more than 74 minerals including calcium and magnesium in forms that are particularly assimilated by the body .
- Minerals
Lithotamne is made up of more than 98% mineral substance.
It is rich in calcium, present in the form of carbonate. Thus, its consumption at standard dosages covers 100% of the recommended intakes.
Vitamin D2 allows the optimal use of calcium in the bones, by promoting its fixation.
